Your inner voice knows without hesitation, without ambiguity, and without the need for conscious reasoning, what’s right for you. It’s your fail-safe GPS. As long as you listen, you cannot get lost.
Your inner voice resides in your body, not in your head. Your head is ruled by logic and rationale. It’s great for collecting and organizing information, for calculating, strategizing, and executing. It’s great for dissecting and analyzing data. Your head is home to your knowledge. But it’s not the source of your wisdom.
The more you listen to your inner voice, the less you compare yourself to others. You no longer stress over whether you’re doing things the right way because you know your way is right for you, and the next person’s way is right for them. You always know you’re doing your best because being you is being at your best. You’re not afraid of challenges because you trust your inner voice to speak up at the right time, in the right way. Because it always does. That’s its job.
In any situation you find yourself in, your inner voice is always there. As you release stuck feelings, your inner voice gets louder and stronger. The more you are continuously aware of sensations, the better your ability to observe them without reacting to them.
In the next section of this masterclass, we will work on establishing a practice that keeps you connected to – and grounded in – your body. For now, just notice throughout the day any instances where you can hear your inner voice. Next time you sit down to journal, write down what you think it’s trying to tell you.
